Modern Pentathlon

An ancient saying, attributed to Aristotle states,

“Pentathletes are the perfect athletes, because in their bodies are both strength and speed.”

Created expressly for the Olympic Games, it requires skill, speed and stamina. Modern Pentathlon is a multi-platform sporting event that includes: fencing, 200m swimming (freestyle), show jumping and a combined (laser) pistol shooting and 3200m cross-country race. Following the 2024 Olympics in Paris, the equestrian component transitioned to a "Ninja-style" obstacle course. All of the stages are completed in a single day. An athlete's performance in the first three events dictates their starting position for the shooting/racing combination event at the end of the event. The athlete with the highest cumulated point total at the end is declared the overall winner of the entire competition.
